One Killed, One Injured

A 19 year old boy, Ozan Alparslan, had a car crash with an IETT bus on Nato Yolu at 11 p.m. while driving drunk. He was killed instantly. The bus driver, Cem Bayir, was badly injured and was taken to the hospital. The road was slick due to pouring rain, plus, the boy was not wearing his seat belt. Alparslan was thrown into the car's windshield; his car, a white 2005 Renault Broadway, was crushed by the impact of hitting the huge bus. "I saw him coming and tried to avoid the accident by switching to the left lane. Unfortunately, the Renault driver also changed lanes and drove straight into me," Cem Bayir described the scene after getting released from the hospital. The police found out that Alparslan had been drinking because it was his last night in town with his friends before going off to the military service.
